Book of Life
Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I
pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

Respond
- Paraphrase each text. Provide the original (to keep you close) and
then write your own.
- When, apparently, was the "book" written? (hint: pay attention to
the verb tenses)
- Who is in the "book"? (hint: think about the verb tenses and the
subject matter)
- How do you get written in the "book"? Think carefully. Remember,
what is NOT said is as important as what is explicitly stated.
- For what reasons are you taken "out" of the book?
Longer thought questions
- What significance do you see in the fact that HALF of all the
references in the Bible about the Book of Life are in the book of
Revelation? What does that say about the Book of Life? What does that
say about Revelation?
- What value/purpose do you see in the Book of Life? What meaning
might THE Author be trying to convey? Let me explain. Do you really
think that with all our technology God still uses pen & inks? So
if the book is not a literal book, what might it stand for or
represent--remember Revelation is full of symbols. Why should a
Christian know about the Book of Life? How can a Christian draw
comfort from its existence?
