Who Christ is … (what Christ is described to be)
What was Christ’s mission/purpose: remember that this is FOR ALL THE GODHEAD ALL THE TIME SINCE CHRIST IS THE SAME FOREVER

EGW’s own view on this subject matured over time. Alden Thompson (from WWU) wrote on this in the Adventist Review of 1981. You can follow the ideas and their implications here:
Bill Watterson’s Calvin & Hobbes comic strip really gets at the heart of the connection with God. If the wages of sin really is death, then what SHOULD happen when we sin is we SHOULD cease to exist. WHY? We have cut ourselves off from life (GOD) and we should not live.
It’s kind of like this: we THINK we’re plugged in to life and we go on living on our own. BUT in reality the line is broken. We don't even know it. So what does God do? He sets up an “artifical life support” scenario. So while we're unplugged, GOD keeps us alive—long enough for us to figure out what’s REALLY going on and make our decision.
We try to fight this. We don’t like to admit we’re dependent. We try to save ourselves. Not ever going to happen.
Bill Watterson has another strip where Calvin and Hobbes have a discussion on what it means to be good. We’ve got the ideas mixed up. We THINK salvation is based on behavior—or even believing the “right” things. But salvation is based on belonging to GOD. We are His children. We only respond to Him who first loved us.
i highly recommend the book “Saving God’s Reputation” by Sigve K. Tonstad. This book is a doctoral thesis, so it might be a little slow going, but Tonstad is very thorough with his research and presents a very refreshing view of the book of Revelation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
NOTE: the greyed text above references material that is very insightful regarding the topics here. i've used standard SDA abbreviations concerning EGW literature. In case you are not familiar with those abbreviatioins, i've listed explanations below. To read the material, simply find the resource listed online (click here or use the EGW app on a mobile device) and then review the page numbers listed.
For example, above i reference DA 764:1-3. That would mean "Desire of Ages" page 764, paragraphs 1-3.
