The Altar of Incense, The High Priest, and The Ark Of The Covenant
Painted By: Sherry
The Altar of Incense: This was a square, acacia wood altar
overlaid with gold. It had horns extending from its four
corners. Incense burnt on it wafting over the veil and
into the most holy place symbolizing Jesus taking our
prayers to the father.
High Priest: The high priest wore a blue tunic and the
ephod. The ephod has shoulder pieces containing two onyx
stones with the tribes of Israel written on them. On top
of the ephod is a square breastplate with twelve stones
(one for every tribe).
The Ark of The Covenant: The Ark was a rectangular chest
made of acacia wood and overlaid with gold inside and out.
Inside the chest were the tablets of covenant law. The lid
of the chest was called the mercy seat, it was made of
pure gold and had a gold cherub on each end. The Ark
represented God’s heavenly throne and the way he leads
with mercy and justice.
